about
My name is Jonny. I live in Newcastle. I'm a proper nerd but I try to counterbalance that by playing in lots of bands. Thanks for visiting.
work
I'm currently working as a sofware engineer in electronic design automation for Pulsic. Previously, I worked as an AI programmer for the video game developer Eutechnyx.
education
In 2008 I completed my PhD in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Newcastle University, studying group theory with a specific interest in cryptography. My supervisor was Andrew Duncan.
My thesis is entitled Aspects of Braid Group Cryptography. It focuses on the cryptanalysis of the authentication protocol involving shifted conjugacy of braids proposed by Dehornoy.
